A major error in Chinese astrology is the failure to correct for the precession of the equinoxes.

Date Shifts Required by Precession of the Equinoxes

Due to the precession of the equinoxes, the Earth's axis rotates through 360 degrees every 25,000 years, or about one Zodiac sign every 2,000 years. Every 2,000 years the Zodiac signs have to be adjusted by one sign. During the Hsia, Shang, Chou and Han dynasties, the Zodiac signs were shifted from Zi the Rat to Chou the Ox and then Yin the Tiger. But, now, 2,000 years since the Han dynasty the Chinese Spring Equinox sign is still Yin the Tiger when it should be the next coming sign Mao the Rabbit.

Year 2011 which is currently taken as Year of the Rabbit should be next sign of Year of Dragon! Almost all current Chinese astrologers are using the wrong Zodiac signs and their predictions can be way out!

This article presents a significant further proof that Chinese astrologers are using the wrong Zodiac signs. The proof relates to how the Year 2011 starts.

Is 2011 really Year of Rabbit?

How Year 2011 Began

As usual, around the end of the year, the time arrived for many Chinese astrologers to try their hands at forecasting the incoming year. Let us look at how the Chinese astrologers predicted 2011.

The year 2011 started with fierce events:

  • Shock waves across the Middle East. Ben Ali was kicked out of Tunisia and Muburak fell in Egypt. Zine El Abidine Ben Ali was the second President of the Tunisian Republic. He held the office from 7 November 1987, until he was forced to step down and flee the country on 14 January 2011. Muhammad Hosni Sayyid Mubarak served as the fourth President of Egypt from 1981 to 2011. Mubarak was ousted after 18 days of demonstrations during the 2011 Egyptian revolution on 11 February. Similar insurgencies erupted in a number of Middle East nations.

  • A massive earthquake of magnitude 6.3 struck near Christchurch New Zealand on February 22, 2011, causing extensive damage to the city and leaving many people in need of assistance. Police now believe at least 182 people died in Christchurch's devastating earthquake.

  • The 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami was a 9.0-magnitude megathrust earthquake off the coast of Japan that occurred at 14:46 JST (05:46 UTC) on Friday 11 March 2011. The epicenter was 130 kilometers off the east coast of the Oshika Peninsula of Tohoku near Sendai, with the hypocenter at a depth of 32 km. The earthquake triggered extremely destructive tsunami waves of up to 10 meters (33 ft) that struck Japan minutes after the quake, in some cases traveling up to 10 km inland, with smaller waves reaching many other countries after several hours. At least 10,000 were believed to be killed by the tusunami. Around 4.4 million households in northeastern Japan were left without electricity and 1.5 million without water. Many electrical generators were taken down, and at least three nuclear reactors suffered explosions due to hydrogen buildup within their outer containment buildings.

Well, the year certainly started with literally many booms and whether the rest of the year will follow the violence trend remains to be seen.

There are diverse methods of Chinese astrology, many of which are outdated.

How Current Chinese Astrologers Predict

There are many conflicting ways the Chinese astrologers had predicted each year in the past. We will concentrate on one major aspect which will show the serious flaw in current Chinese astrological predictions, vis their taking Year 2011 as the Year of the Rabbit.

The Year of the Rabbit is forecast as follows:

  • A placid year, very much welcomed and needed after the ferocious year of the Tiger. We should go to some quite spot to lick off wounds and get some rest after all the battles of the previous year. (Lau, 1979. The Handbook of Chinese Horoscopes. "placid" = "quiet, calm").

Does the above prediction of the characteristic of the Year of Rabbit fit what have had happened in the beginning of the Year 2011? Certainly not!

So, the events are already showing that regarding the year 2011 as the Year of the Rabbit is wrong. All subsequent predictions being based on 2011 as a Year of the Rabbit will be terribly wrong.

What are in store for the incoming year?

The Real Zodiac Sign of Year 2011

Now, at the start the article has pointed out that 2011 should be the Year of the Dragon. Well, what are the characteristics of the Year of Dragon? Read:

  • In the Dragon's year, fortunes as well as disasters will come in massive waves. This is a year marked by a lot of surprises and violent acts of nature. Tempers will flare the world over and everyone will be staging some real or imaginary revolt against constrictions.... (Lau, 1979. The Handbook of Chinese Horoscopes).

Really, the characteristics of the Year of Dragon described perfectly what had occurred at the start of 2011! The real Zodiac sign of year 2011 is not Rabbit as erroneously held by so many Chinese astrologers, but the Year of Dragon. The rest of the year 2011 will see continual violence!

  • The Astonishing Astronomical Reason

The turbulence at the start of the year 2011 can be attributed to the segment of the Sun corresponding with the Zodiac constellation of Aries, which signifies the Spring Equinox period. At this time of the year in 2011, from January 22, 2011, 12:11 PM, the planet Jupiter enters Aries. It will be in Aries until June 4, 2011, 8:56 AM, when Jupiter enters Taurus.

It appears that Jupiter had exerted a disturbing effect on the Aries segment of the Sun, resulting in one of the biggest solar flares on February 14. There were predictions at that time that the flare will trigger off earthquakes, which seemed true.

The earthquake in Japan followed a week of exceptional skip in the Amateur Radio bands. This means that the ionosphere was exceptionally energised and the reception at exceptional ranges indicated that the Sun had extraordinary influence on this event.

What is not realised is that if the solar flare at Spring Equinox is strong enough, it will not only be followed immediately by large bursts of Aurora Borealis, the Northern Ghost Lights, but this will also determine whether the Aurora Borealis would repeat around Autumn Equinox.

The Spring Equinox position corresponding to Aries has a significant influence over the rest of the year! This is why the observations of the positions of Jupiter or Tai Sui around the New Year play significant roles in Chinese astrology and Feng Shui.

    Chinese astrology is highly scientific!

The surface of the Sun is heterogenous, which is the scientific astronomical basis of the monthly effects known in astrology!

There are a number of other evidence that the current Chinese Zodiac signs have to be shifted by one sign. It means that current usage of the Chinese Four Pillars systems will be seriously in error. Conventional predictions in a host of Chinese methods like Zi Wei Dou Shu, Ba Zi Eight Characters divination, Qi Men Dun Jia and even Xuan Kong Feng Shui will be wrong.

We have in fact adjusted people horoscopes for a one sign shift in the Chinese Year Zodiacs and found significant more accurate predictions.

The above discussion shows that the Chinese astrology is actually very accurate, only there must be at least a shift of one sign for the year.

Go for Accurate Research-based Scientific Feng Shui and Astrology

The Chinese imperial astrology always refered to actual positions of planets and planetary events and made forecasts accordingly. The Chinese emperors would not use the erratic calendars. This imperial approach is what is seen in Hindu and Western astrology, where forecasts are based on actual positions of planets. The current typical Chinese astrology with their calendrical calculations are only approximations of actual astronomical movements. They have become more inaccurate due to deviations through time - and they require new re-calibrations.

It is time for practitioners to realise that astrology and Feng Shui have scientific astronomical and geography basis. Too long practitioners have been mired in superstitious mind sets.
